Engineering, but it's not just for engineers!

We offer career exploration areas in architecture, construction, robotics, manufacturing, aviation, software development, turf management, skilled trades, or anything else hands on or design oriented. 

Medical, but it's more than one size fits all!

We offer career exploration in all medical specialties such as, chiropractor, dentist, doctor, nurse, OT, orthodontist, PT, speech, respiratory therapy, beterinarian, X-ray, and many more!

We offer career exposure, exploration and development for anyone whose career path doesn't fit into our other strands. If that is you, you can start your CAPS experience in Create. You will need to be open to suggestions and willing to try a variety of careers based on your interests or your instructors suggestions. 

CAPS courses are elective based. You will receive 1.5 elective credits for every semester you take at CAPS. You can take CAPS up to 4 semesters. Enrollment doesn't have to be consecutive, as some students can only attend one semester their junior year then return as seniors. Additionally, some strands have courses that can be awarded college credit dependent upon where you enroll. 

What do you want to do? At CAPS you truly get out of the program what you put into it! Each student experience, while having certain learning in common with others, is uniquely tuned to the individual student interest(s). 

Internships, some paid and some unpaid are available in every strand and are dependent on student interest, student skill set and instructor approval. 

CAPS is not just a college preparatory program, it is not just a career preparatory program. It's main focus is to be a life happiness preparatory program. By giving you choice in your learning, presenting you with opportunities to expand your learning and connecting you to industry professionals you are provided with the building blocks to go further into a career you will enjoy. Through connections and opportunities your CAPS experience should establish a personal learning network that you can reach back out to and ask questions when you are struggling in a class in college or in your job right out of high school. 

CAPS runs two sessions M-F:

• A.M. from 9-11:30
• P.M. from 12:30-3:00 

On track to graduate juniors and seniors who are in good standing and have their own transportation can enroll in CAPS with their high school counselor. 

CAPS students are students at AHS and ACHS first.  Students can participate in all base school activities such as assemblies and class meetings.

CAPS works with your schedule. We have had students in every sport and activity offered at AHS and ACHS enroll at CAPS.
